Discover Biel/Bienne

Colourful, vibrant and innovative.

Located in the superb Seeland, and known as the base of Swiss clock and watchmaking, Biel is the largest bilingual town in Switzerland.

As a town with many facets, Biel offers a rich variety of culture via established cultural institutions as well as the alternative culture scene. The pedestrian zone on Bahnhofstrasse and Nidaugasse and the old town with its many little boutiques are ideal for shopping, and invite you to stroll and browse. The town leaves nothing to be desired in gourmet terms: whether it's a cozy café or culinary delights in one of the many restaurants, the offer is diverse.

Every year, events of national and international importance take place in Biel. Cultural occasions such as Pod’Ring, the Lakelive Festival and major sports meetings such as the Biel Run bring the town alive and attract visitors from all over Switzerland and neighbouring countries.
