Miler Ramírez is a Colombian painter and gallerist, born in Bogotá in 1955. He studied graphic design before establishing his practice in Switzerland, where painting and exhibition-making have developed side by side. Through Périphérie Arts, he has created opportunities for Swiss and Latin American artists to meet a wider public. Ramírez builds his paintings in layers: brushing and dripping acrylic and fluorescent pigments across the surface from different directions. The result is a field of pulsating marks, saturated colour and recurring figures. His cows—at once familiar and slightly archaic—move through this charged space as motifs rather than illustrations. Light is part of the work’s structure. Daylight, darkness and ultraviolet light each bring forward a different image: inscriptions, colours and shapes shift with the viewing conditions. The paintings therefore remain in motion, asking the viewer to look again.
