In summer 2025, the castle courtyard in Nidau is transformed into an impressive open-air theatre: 1829 - Ds Urteil vo Nidou brings a forgotten chapter of local history to light. Elisabeth Weyeneth, once imprisoned in the castle prison and sentenced to death, is at the centre of the plot. Based on historical research by Sabine Kronenberg, Adrian Chläbi Hossmann has written a play that is moving and raises questions about justice - then and now. The amateur ensemble, directed by Lorenz Probst and Benoît Perritaz, brings the dramatic story to life in an impressive and authentic way. The authentic ambience of the castle and the proximity to the action make every performance an intense experience for theatre lovers and history buffs.
